Origin and history
The château d'Argoules, located in the commune of the same name in the Hauts-de-France region, finds its origins in the sixteenth century, period of its initial construction. This monument, although deeply transformed in the 19th century in a neo-Gothic style, retains a balanced architecture, marked by harmonious proportions. The modifications of the 19th century affected its decor and openings, while integrating an additional wing of limestone, probably built between the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The castle presents a coherent whole, where the wing in extension visually integrates with the original structure. Despite the changes, the building has been able to preserve a stylistic unit, as evidenced by its facades and roofs, protected since 2009. The interior staircase and the north sloped terrace, with its own staircase, are among the outstanding elements listed under the Historic Monuments.
The location of the castle, at 1 Rue Verte in Argoules (Somme), is attested by the Merimée and Monumentum bases. The site, although partially documented, has enjoyed official protection since the decree of 23 September 2009, covering facades, roofs, and certain exterior and interior fittings. No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation).
