Origin and history

Bertichères Castle, built in the 16th century in Renaissance style, has undergone important transformations over the centuries. He successively belonged to the Counts of Chaumont, the Dukes of Longueville and the Princes of Conti, before becoming the residence of Monsieur, brother of Louis XIV. Today, it hosts a leisure centre and a golf course, while preserving original architectural elements such as the barn and dovecote of the sixteenth century.

The castle farm, better preserved than the main body, includes a 16th century barn and dovecote, a 17th century stable, and two 19th century agricultural buildings. These outbuildings, including the honeycomb barn with its chevron frame, were listed as historical monuments in 1999. Their architecture reflects the evolution of agricultural and seigneurial techniques in the region.

Nearby, the chapel of Saint Eutrope, of Romanesque origin (XII century), is located in the heart of the golf courses. It is the subject of an annual pilgrimage on 30 April, reflecting a religious heritage rooted in the local landscape. The castle, bordered by the Troesne River and the Trie-Château Forest, also serves as a setting for television shoots, such as the show Les Fiftie broadcast on W9 since 2022.

In 2024, the estate hosts equestrian events, including the 6th edition of the Royal Jump (30 May to 2 June), illustrating its contemporary vocation combining heritage and modern activities. Despite its transformations, the site retains traces of its past prestige, linked to the French aristocracy of the 17th and 18th centuries.
