Origin and history

Brailly-Cornehotte Castle, located in the Somme department, is an 18th-century building built of brick and stone. Its two contrasting facades and low-slope roof reflect the architecture of the era. The central forebody, adorned with Louis XVI carved motifs, is the most remarkable element, inscribed in historical monuments since 1926.

According to tradition, the poet Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian composed some of his fables. Inside, sculptures attributed to Simon Pfaff de Pfaffenhoffen, a former Austrian officer who became a sculptor, adorn the pieces. The park houses a hemicycle decorated with pilasters, adding to the elegance of the estate.

The castle, still in operation, today hosts events such as weddings or seminars. Its history thus combines architectural heritage and cultural life, from its construction to its contemporary uses. The accuracy of its location is estimated as fair, with an address confirmed rue du Général-de-Gaulle in Brailly-Cornehotte.
