Origin and history

The Château de Campagne-lès-Hesdin is a building built during the second half of the eighteenth century, located in the commune of Campagne-lès-Hesdin, in the department of Pas-de-Calais. This monument, classified among the Historical Monuments, is distinguished by its typical architecture of this period, with emblematic facades and roofs, as well as commons and a dovecote.

The castle was the subject of official protection by decree of 6 June 1977, specifically covering its facades, roofs, commons, dovecote and entrance gate. This inscription demonstrates its heritage importance and the desire to preserve its architectural integrity. The site is located at 435 rue Daniel Ranger, an address corresponding to the cadastral and geographic data available.

At the time of its construction, the Hauts-de-France region, then integrated into Nord-Pas-de-Calais, was marked by a rural society and a largely agricultural economy. The castles of this period often served as residences for wealthy families or the local nobility, while playing a role in the social and economic organization of the surrounding territories. These buildings also reflected the stylistic influences of their time, mixing functionality and aesthetics.

Today, the Château de Campagne-lès-Hesdin remains a testimony of this architectural and historical heritage, although the available information does not specify its current use, whether it is for visits, room rental or accommodation. Its location, noted as 'a priori satisfactory', allows to situate it with relative accuracy in the local landscape.
