Origin and history

Château Corbeau Castle, also known as the Bâtie d'en Haut, is an ancient fortified house built in the early 13th century. Its ruins are now visible in the commune of Meylan, in the department of Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This monument illustrates the medieval military architecture typical of this period, marked by the construction of strong houses to protect local lords and their lands.

Fortified houses, like Château Raven, played a central role in the feudal organization of the region. They served as both a seigneurial residence, a place for storing crops and a refuge for people in the event of conflict. Their presence reflects a time when security and territorial control were major issues for rural communities and small lords.

No additional information is available on the specific historical events related to this castle, or on its potential owners or occupants. The present ruins, however, bear witness to its past importance in the defensive and social landscape of the Grenoblais region in the Middle Ages.
