Origin and history

Couloumey Castle, located in Beautiran en Gironde (New Aquitaine), is a building built in the 18th and 19th centuries. It consists of a main house, a garden terrace, common wings, and a north access courtyard with its dovecote. The interior decor, fence walls, portals and remains of a large park testify to its historical and architectural importance. These elements, typical of the aristocratic or bourgeois residences of the era, illustrate the taste for organized spaces and landscape developments.

The castle has been partially protected since 2002, with an inscription under the title of the Historical Monuments covering the house, the wings of communes, the chapel, the north courtyard, the dovecote, the south garden and its alleys planted. Water parts, located to the south of the castle, with their systems of bridges, canals and basins, are also included. These protections highlight the heritage value of the site, both for its architecture and for its exterior features, characteristic of the rural estates of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Today, Couloumey Castle belongs to a private company. Although the information on its access to the public (visits, rooms or guest rooms) is not specified in the available sources, its status as a Historic Monument makes it a place of interest for the preservation of the local heritage. Approximate location, indicated as "a priori satisfactory", suggests relative accessibility, although the exact coordinates may vary slightly depending on the sources.
