Origin and history

Fallon Castle is an 18th-century building located in the commune of Fallon, Haute-Saône. It is part of the Marquisat de Raincourt, erected in 1719 for Guillaume de Raincourt, including several nearby parishes such as Bournois and Brémondans. This castle, whose house body was rebuilt in the late 17th or early 18th century, underwent important works from 1748 under the direction of Jean-Baptiste de Raincourt, according to the plans of the bisontin architect Jean-Charles Colombot.

The work of 1748 included commons, interior decoration and park layout. The castle was listed as historical monuments in 1994 for its remarkable elements, such as the house, the communes, the fence walls and the gates. Today, it belongs to a private company and retains a significant architectural and landscape heritage of this period.

The land of Fallon was integrated into the Marquisat of Raincourt, a seigneurial group that included several villages in the area, now divided between the Haute-Saône and the Doubs. This marquisat reflected the territorial and social organization of the Ancien Régime, where local lords, like the Raincourts, played a central role in the administration and development of the lands under their control.
