Origin and history

The castle of Gensac-sur-Garonne is an 18th-century building, built in a rectangular plan. Four pavilions mark its angles, while a prominent cornice separates the ground floor from the floor. The entrance door, in full hanger, is completed at the back by a rectangular window door, reflecting an architectural symmetry characteristic of this period.

The lords of Gensac are attested from the 12th century, although the present castle dates from the 18th century. This historic monument, partially inscribed in 1981, preserves remarkable elements such as facades, roofs and a decorated living room on the ground floor. Its location, in Gensac-sur-Garonne in Haute-Garonne, makes it a witness to local history and regional architectural evolution.

The location of the castle, at the approximate address 2 Impasse of the Church, is considered satisfactory (note of 7/10). Although details of its current use (visits, rentals, accommodation) are not specified in the sources, its listing as Historic Monuments underscores its heritage importance. The protections relate specifically to facades, roofs and the living room with its decor, according to the decree of 23 July 1981.
