Origin and history

The Château de Grand-Rullecourt is a building located in the municipality of the same name, in the department of Pas-de-Calais (Hauts-de-France). Built mainly between the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, it represents an example of aristocratic residential architecture of this period. Its facades and roofs, as well as those of the communes, were included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by decree of 15 June 1989, highlighting their heritage value.

The monument is now owned by a private company. Although its current use (visits, room rental or guest rooms) is not specified in the available sources, its location at 3 Place du Château in Grand-Rullecourt makes it a point of local interest. The accuracy of its geographical location is considered satisfactory, facilitating its identification in the urban landscape.

At the time of its construction in the 17th and 18th centuries, castles of this type were often used as residences for the aristocracy or the rising bourgeoisie. In the Hauts-de-France, a region marked by a rural economy and dynamic trade, these buildings reflected the power and prestige of their owners. Their architecture, combining functionality and aesthetics, was integrated into a network of agricultural estates and villages organized around these homes.
