Origin and history

The castle of Jaillac is a former castle located in the commune of Mériot, in the Aube department, in the Grand Est region. Today, only minor architectural traces remain, including four bridges linking the national road to the historic site. These elements, though fragmentary, testify to the past existence of this building, whose precise history and period of construction remain poorly documented.

The only part of the castle still officially recognized is its access road, registered as historical monuments in 1996. This partial classification underscores the heritage importance of the remains, despite their poor state. The site is part of a landscape marked by other castles in the region, as evidenced by the list of castles of the Dawn, with which it is associated.

No additional information is available on its original architecture, owners, or specific historical role.
