Origin and history

The Château de La Bruyère is an 18th century building, more precisely from the 3rd quarter of this century, located in the commune of Saint-Launeuc, Brittany. This castle, whose architecture recalls that of the malouinières, is distinguished by an access to the first floor via an external staircase with double revolution, characteristic of this type of construction.

The monument has been listed as historical monuments since 15 October 1968. This protection concerns the facades and roofs of the castle, as well as its two entrance pavilions, the courtyard with its gate and gate. These architectural elements reflect the style and prestige of the Breton aristocratic residences of the time.

Located in the Côtes-d-Armor department, the Château de La Bruyère is part of a landscape marked by the rural and maritime history of the region. At that time, the malouinières and similar residences were often used as resorts for shipowners or wealthy families, while playing a role in the local social and economic organization.
