Origin and history
The Château de la Ravinière, located in Fontaines-en-Sologne in the Loir-et-Cher, is a building whose origins date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, with significant additions to the 20th century. This monument illustrates the architectural evolution over several centuries, combining an ancient home, commons in 16th century woods, and subsequent buildings like a tower-reservoir or stables signed by architect Georges Lisch. The elements protected by the decree of 16 October 2023 include facades, roofs, a chapel, turrets, as well as historical outbuildings and soils, reflecting the heritage richness of the site.
The 16th century wood-paned commons, the chapel in its entirety, or the landscape (canal, vegetable garden, terraces) testify to the functional and aesthetic importance of the estate. The presence of architect Georges Lisch in the 20th century marks a phase of modernization, with utility buildings such as a kennel, garages, or a guard house. These additions illustrate the adaptation of the castle to contemporary needs while preserving its historical character.
The listing of the Historical Monuments in 2023 enshrines the heritage value of the whole, including precise cadastral plots and various architectural elements. The site, located at the place called La Ravinière, offers a representative example of the castles of Sologne, where are mixed medieval heritage, Renaissance and recent interventions, all in a preserved rural setting.
