Origin and history

Château de la Touche-Savary is a building located in the commune of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Maine-et-Loire. Built mainly in the seventeenth and last quarter of the eighteenth century, it embodies the aristocratic residential architecture of these periods. The monument is distinguished by its facades and roofs, as well as by an integrated chapel, characteristic of the seigneurial residences of Anjou.

Ranked among the historical monuments since 1972, the Château de la Touche-Savary enjoys special protection for its major architectural elements. This inscription bears witness to its heritage importance in the Pays de la Loire region. Although the available sources do not specify its current use (visit, rental, accommodation), its status as a historical monument makes it a place of interest for the study of local history and the evolution of castles in Anjou.

At the time of its construction in the 17th and 18th centuries, the region was marked by a rural economy dominated by agriculture and seigneurial activities. Castles such as Touche-Savary served as residences for noble families, while playing a central role in the social and economic organization of the surrounding territories. Their architecture often reflected the status and ambitions of their owners, while integrating religious elements, such as the chapel mentioned in the protections of the monument.
