Origin and history

Château de la Tour is a 19th-century building located in the commune of Montady, in the Hérault department, Occitanie region. This castle, which has been listed as historical monuments since 2007, is distinguished by its architecture and landscaped park, including a greenhouse and orangery. Its inscription also covers the facades and roofs of the buildings surrounding the former courtyard of the communes, excluding the annexes.

The architect Léopold Carlier is mentioned as the master of the castle. The monument, typical of the aristocratic or bourgeois buildings of the 19th century, reflects the architectural influences of its time. Its park and outbuildings, such as orangery, illustrate the importance attached to leisure and prestige spaces in the residences of this period.

The protection of the castle by the Historic Monuments in 2007 underscores its heritage value. The registration order specifies the protected elements, such as the main house body, fences, gates, and buildings adjacent to the common court. This official recognition aims to preserve the architectural and landscape integrity of the site for future generations.
