Origin and history

The castle of Lichy is a building located in the commune of Bona, in the department of Nièvre, in the region Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built between the 15th and 17th centuries, it is located at the bottom of a valley where the waters of the Ixeura spring. This geographical setting, marked by reliefs and streams, probably influenced its local location and historical role.

The castle has been partially listed as historic monuments since 14 March 1990, with its dovecote as the only protected element. This official recognition underlines the heritage importance of this building, although the available sources do not detail its precise use over the centuries. The property now belongs to a private company, which limits the information available about its current state or past functions.

The Nièvre region, where Bona is located, was historically marked by a rural economy and seigneurial structures. Castles such as Lichy often served as administrative, military or agricultural centres for the surrounding lands. Their presence also reflected the dynamics of local power, between nobility, clergy and peasant populations, in a context where defensive or residential architecture played a key role in territorial organization.
