Origin and history
Château de Noizé is a mansion located in the commune of Soulaines-sur-Aubance, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built in 1755, this building is a typical example of 18th-century civil architecture in Anjou, marked by sober lines and harmonious integration into the surrounding rural landscape.
In July 1793, during the Vendée wars, the mansion was set on fire by the Republican armies, a violent episode reflecting the political and religious tensions of the French Revolution in western France. After this destruction, the castle was rebuilt, although the details of this reconstruction and its possible architectural modifications are not specified in the available sources.
Today, the castle of Noizé is a private domain, which limits public access to its history and architecture. Its current status makes it a discreet but significant testimony of the local heritage, linked to a pivotal period in French history, between the Ancient Regime and the Revolution.
