Origin and history
Paars Castle is a building built at the end of the 18th century, whose ordered facades under broken roof reflect the influence of classical architecture. A half-moon gate with a driveway, extended by a driveway, leads to the main body of the castle. The communes, organized perpendicular to the central axis, include a lower courtyard closed by a grid and a wall-baubut, as well as a square dovecoier surrounded by two low wings sheltering barn, stables and shed. This set is considered one of the most successful examples of seigneurial commons of the 17th and 18th centuries in Soissonnais.
The castle was listed as historic monuments in two stages: in 1980 for its facades, roofs, interior staircase and wash-up, and in 2002 for its communes, entrance gate, garden and fence elements. These protections highlight the heritage value of the whole, both for its architecture and for its spatial organization characteristic of the seigneurial domains of the region.
Located in the department of Aisne in Paars, the castle is part of a landscape marked by the rural and aristocratic history of Picardia (now Hauts-de-France). Its plan and outbuildings illustrate the operation of seigneurial farms, where agricultural and residential buildings coexisted in a hierarchical balance, reflecting the social relations of the Old Regime and the 19th century.
