Origin and history

Planèzes Castle, located in the hamlet of the same name on a hill between Luc and La Primaube, is a Renaissance building built in the 15th century. It is distinguished by its facades and roofs, as well as by the interior décor of its living and dining room, protected since 1991 as historical monuments. The estate, including a garden, remains a private property not accessible to the public.

Today, the castle belongs to the family of La Malène, which ensures its conservation. Close to Lake Planèzes, it is part of a landscape marked by late medieval history and the transition to the Renaissance. Its architecture reflects this pivotal period, although little detail on its original transformations or uses is documented in available sources.

Listed among the historical monuments of Aveyron, Planèzes Castle illustrates the architectural heritage of the Rouergue. Its official registration in 1991 underlines the heritage value of its interior and exterior elements, while preserving its private character. The reference to the Mérimée base and its association with the commune of Luc-la-Primaube make it a notable point of local interest.
