Sonis Castle is an emblematic monument of Mouterhouse in the Moselle department. It was erected around 1830 in a place called Altschmelz (or Old Foundry), marking an industrial period for the region. The castle was built for Pierre René Orono de Sonis, owner of the Société Anonyme des Forges et Usines de Mouterhouse.
