Origin and history
Thaon Castle is an iconic building located in the municipality of Thaon, Calvados department, Normandy. Built in the first half of the 17th century and redesigned in the 18th century, it illustrates the architectural evolutions of these periods, combining classical styles and ornaments characteristic of the Louis XV era.
The monument was listed as historic monuments on July 27, 1978, an official recognition of its heritage value. This protection specifically concerns facades and roofs, a wrought iron staircase, as well as a small living room decorated in the Louis XV wing. The castle park, although not classified, was pre-invented for its remarkable character, highlighting its landscape importance.
