Origin and history
The Château de Troisereux, located in the Oise region of Hauts-de-France, is an iconic Renaissance building, built mainly in the 15th and 16th centuries. Its white brick and limestone facades, organized in the shape of L with a tower housing a spiral staircase and a listed medieval clock, reflect the refined architecture of the era. The estate, surrounded by moat and water bodies, was partially rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries, integrating hydraulic elements like a 330-metre canal.
The 12-hectare park, created in the 16th century and classified as a historical monument, is attributed to the ceramist and architect Bernard Palissy. A unique potential example of a Protestant garden, it houses a 45-species arboretum, century-old plane trees, and cypress trees planted in 1786. A natural ornithological reserve, it hosts herons, swans and migratory birds. The park, with its moat, large canal and hydraulics, was protected by successive decrees in 1983, 1992 and 2003.
Ranked in 1983 for its facades, roofs, courtyards and interior elements (large living room, dining room, stairs), the castle benefited from restorations in 1791 for its interiors. Open to the public, it allows visitors to visit rooms such as the library, rooms or living room, while its park, complemented by old mills on the Therain, bears witness to its hydraulic and landscape history.
The successive protections concerned the gate, moat, water bodies (1983), then the park and its components (1992), and finally the hydraulic installations and the partially blocked canal (2003). These measures highlight the heritage value of a collection of Renaissance architecture, hydraulic innovations and garden art, reflecting the evolution of tastes and techniques over four centuries.
