Castle: inscription by order of 14 March 1927
Origin and history
Veuil Castle is a building built between the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century. Located in the commune of Veuil, in the department of Indre (36), it is representative of the architecture of this period in the region Centre-Val de Loire. The monument was included in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of March 14, 1927, which demonstrates its heritage importance.
At that time, castles in the area were often used as seigneurial residences or as places of local power. They were integrated into a network of fortifications and agricultural estates, reflecting the feudal organization still present. Their construction met both defensive, residential and symbolic needs, illustrating the social status of their owners.
The Château de Veuil is part of this broader historical and architectural context.
