Origin and history

Château des Auzuzières is a monument located in the municipality of Juvigné, Mayenne, within the region of Pays de la Loire. Although its exact period of construction is not specified in the available sources, it is attested as a place of aristocratic residence in the eighteenth century. Its name also appears as Dauzuzières on the map of Cassini, reflecting its historical topographic importance.

In 1742 the castle belonged to Simon-L. de Chalus and was occupied by René de Chalus de Maulny in 1773. In 1780, a certain N. du Boisberanger, Sieur du fief des Auzuzières, was mentioned, illustrating the changes in property within the local aristocracy. These elements suggest a seigneurial residence role, typical of the castles of that time in Anjou-Maine.

The written sources, such as the Dictionnaire historique, topographie et biographie de la Mayenne (1900-1910) d'Angot and Gaugain, confirm its inscription in the castral heritage of the department. The castle is also included in the list of castles of the Mayenne, highlighting its anchoring in regional architectural history. Further information on its future development or current status is not available in the documents consulted.
