Origin and history
The Château des Correaux, located in Leynes en Saône-et-Loire, is an emblematic 18th century residence, representative of the Mâconese architectural style. Its classic elegance blends with local specificities, with a large gallery typical of the region. The castle's coat of arms, "d'azur à trois fascisces d'or", adorns its balcony, highlighting its historical heritage.
The estate houses a 15th century porch, a witness to the medieval history of southern Mâconnais, characterized by its stone fittings and its door-to-door structure. This vestige contrasts with the main structure of the eighteenth century, illustrating the architectural evolution of the site throughout the eras.
Since 1803, the Bernard family, located in Leynes, has been operating a wine-growing company on the estate, perpetuating an agricultural tradition linked to the Burgundy terroir. The castle's hundred-year-old park, rich in rare species such as the ginkgo biloba, the cedar of Lebanon or the sequoia, completes this natural and built heritage.
The Château des Correaux thus embodies an architectural, wine-growing and landscape heritage, anchored in the history of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Its mix of styles and its exceptional park make it a remarkable site of Saône-et-Loire, between medieval memory and elegance of the Enlightenment.
