Origin and history

The Château des Granges, located in Grignon in the Côte-d'Or department (21), is a 17th-century residence. This monument, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by decree of 12 July 1995, illustrates the residential architecture of this period, with subsequent renovations in the 19th century. Its estate includes a house body, a barn, a garden pavilion, a dovecote, as well as walls and their gates, reflecting the typical organization of the seigneurial or bourgeois properties of the period.

The castle is located precisely at 2 A Rue de la Potale, in the commune of Grignon (code Insee 21308), in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Although the sources do not specify its current use (visit, rental, accommodation), its listing in the Historical Monuments inventory highlights its heritage importance. The GPS location, noted as "passible" (level 5/10), allows an approximate identification of the site, but without guarantee of absolute accuracy.

In the modern era (17th century), houses such as the castle of the Granges often served as residences for the aristocracy or the local bourgeoisie, playing a central role in the social and economic organization of the countryside. These properties were generally associated with agricultural land, and their architecture mixed residential, storage (granges, dovecotes) and sometimes defensive functions. The reshaping in the 19th century may correspond to adaptations to lifestyles or aesthetic tastes of this period, marked by major transformations in rural and urban habitat.
