Origin and history

Château du Bouchet is a historical monument located in Lasse, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built in the 16th century, it was transformed into an abode of pleasure in the 18th century, then enlarged in the 19th century by a wing now extinct. This castle illustrates the architectural evolution of aristocratic residences, moving from a medieval or Renaissance structure to a recreational residence more adapted to the lifestyles of the following centuries.

The castle comprises several remarkable elements: a large house with side pavilions rebuilt in the 18th century, a chapel built in a tower to the southeast and heavily renovated in the 19th century, as well as outbuildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The complex was partially listed as a historical monument in 1991 and was classified in 1993 for its facades, roofs, chapels and some commons. These protections highlight the heritage value of this site, both for its architecture and its history.

The protected elements also include a grille and a jump-off, a salon decorated with portraits, as well as 16th century commons. The west wing of the communes, a vaulted room, a pavilion and a leak (columbier) with their ditches were specifically classified in 1993. These architectural and historical details testify to the importance of the castle in the local and regional heritage, reflecting the social and cultural transformations of the region throughout the centuries.
