Origin and history

The Moulin Blanc estate, located in Saint-Zacharie in the Var, has its origins in the 14th century as a farm surrounded by cultivated land and vineyards. The oldest buildings still visible, such as the dovecote, the chapel and the room called mouldings, date from the seventeenth century. These remains testify to the evolution of the site, initially agricultural, before its transformation into an aristocratic residence.

In 1851, Drée's landscaper designed a landscaped park for the estate, marking the beginning of his metamorphosis as a pleasure. Seven years later, in 1858, architect Henri-Antoine Revoil erected the present castle, an emblematic 19th-century building that harmoniously completed the park. The latter, along with the castle, its facades, roofs and some historical elements (such as access hall and terrace), have been protected since 2002 as historical monuments.

The estate still belongs to the Saporta family, which ensures its preservation. In addition to its architectural heritage, the site houses an arboretum, highlighting its dual heritage: both agricultural, medieval and landscaped, thanks to its 19th century layout. The protected elements also include the chapel, the moulding room and the dovecote, reflecting the successive strata of its history.
