Origin and history

The Château de La Pierre is a historic monument located in the commune of La Pierre, in Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, it embodies an architecture typical of the castles of this period, combining defensive and residential functions. Its facades, its staircase, as well as the remains of the old castle and enclosures have been protected since 1982.

At that time, the region was marked by a transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, where castles played a central role in social and military organization. They served as residences for local lords while protecting the surrounding populations. The castle of La Pierre is part of this context, reflecting the architectural and strategic evolutions of its time.
