Origin and history

The Château Margaut, located in Talence en Gironde, is a house of the 3rd quarter of the 18th century, representative of the aristocratic architecture of the region. The building consists of a ground floor and two wings surrounding a courtyard, while the park side façade features an adorned rotunda. Architectural details include ground frames with garlands, baluster windows, and mansards decorated with lead mascarons and volutes. These elements reflect the refinement of the Bordeaux bourgeois residences of the time.

Inside, the castle preserves woodwork carved with floral motifs and garlands, as well as chimneys decorated with shells, characteristic of the rock and neoclassical style in vogue in the eighteenth century. The facades and roofs were protected by a historic monument registration order on 31 December 1958, highlighting their heritage value. The exact address, 412 Cours de la Libération, places the monument in a historic area of Talence, close to Bordeaux.

The location of the castle, although documented (Insee code 33522 for the Gironde), is considered to have poor accuracy (note 5/10 according to the Merimée database). No information is available on its current accessibility, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation. The sources mention only its status as a protected monument and its architectural characteristics, without evoking its contemporary use or its detailed history.
