Origin and history
Reinach Castle, located in La Motte-Servolex in Savoie, is an estate formed by successive additions since the end of the eighteenth century. It includes the old castle of Curtille and the castle of La Motte, which houses remarkable decorations: the large living room, decorated with woodwork and copies of 17th and 18th century works, and the dining room, decorated with stamped leathers dated 1901. This area illustrates architectural and landscape evolution over centuries, mixing heritage and modernity.
In 1813, architect Lalos designed a partially realized landscape park, structured around a meadow punctuated with groves and perspectives encompassing the surrounding landscape. The estate also includes factories, a chapel, a model farm located near the old castle, as well as a hydraulic system including basins and the Nant du Villard. These developments reflect a desire to harmonize nature and architecture, typical of the major areas of the 19th century.
Reinach Castle has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2003, protecting its castle, its park with its factories and facilities, the farm, terraces, as well as elements such as the cooler, the greenhouse, and the old boiler room. The property is now shared between the State, the Savoy Department, and an association. This classification highlights the heritage value of an architectural and landscape ensemble representative of its time.
