Origin and history

The Château Saint-Bauzille de Béziers is an emblematic monument of the 19th century, typical of the large wine castles of the Biterrois region. Located in Bessan Road, it embodies the architecture related to viticulture, with particular attention to its interior design and its vast park. This castle illustrates the economic development of the region, marked by the growth of the wine estates during this period.

The castle, accompanied by its park, portals, guardian's house and former communes, was listed as historical monuments on 5 December 2007. This protection covers all cadastral elements, emphasizing the heritage importance of the building and its dependencies. The inscription reflects the recognition of its architecture and its role in local history.

Although the sources do not explicitly mention the owners or architects, the Château Saint-Bauzille bears witness to the influence of the large wine estates in the social and economic organization of the Hérault. These properties played a central role in wine production, structuring the region's landscapes and activities during the 19th century.
