Origin and history

The Château du Bousquet estate is located in Clermont-Dessous, overlooking a terrace supported by robust walls. Reconstructed in the first half of the 18th century, it was raised around 1840, then equipped with a hydraulic network and auxiliary buildings (orangery, fountain) around 1870. Its interiors preserve woodwork, stucco and fireplaces decorated with antique motifs, while the park organizes into terraces.

The estate, classified as Historic Monument in 2013, includes the castle, its outbuildings (chapel, stables, dovecote), and gardens. The terraces and built elements reflect the 18th and 19th century layouts, with a precise location noted as "very satisfactory" (8/10). The ensemble illustrates the architectural and landscape evolution of an aristocratic residence.

The interior decorations, inspired by antiquity, and the exterior arrangements (fontaines, orangery) testify to the stylistic influences and practical needs of the period. The estate, open to the visit, retains historical coherence between its built parts and its green spaces, structured in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
