Origin and history

The Écomusée de la pomme au Calva, also known as Grand Jardin au Sap-en-Auge, is located in the municipality of Sap in Normandy. This site is dedicated specifically to the promotion of apple heritage and the production of calvados, two emblematic elements of the region. Although the exact period of its creation is not mentioned, its existence is part of a strong local tradition around fruit growing and distillation.

In the Norman region, orchards and the production of cider and calvados have played a central role in the economy and social life for centuries. The eco-museums, like the Sap, aim to preserve and transmit these artisanal and agricultural know-how. They also raise awareness of the importance of this cultural and gastronomic heritage, while supporting local producers.
