Origin and history

Saint-Pierre de Frohen-le-Petit is a Catholic church located in the hamlet of Frohen-le-Petit, in the commune of Frohen-sur-Authie, in the department of the Somme (Hauts-de-France). It is distinguished by an architecture combining two epochs: the choir, built in the 16th century, and the nave as well as the facade, erected in the 18th century. His choir, higher than the nave, has been protected as historical monuments since 1926, while his portal has a neo-classical style.

Inside, the building houses a 16th-century statue of St. Fursy, classified as a historical object. Several tombstones were also present, including those of François Marie Perrot de Fercourt, local seigneur, his wife Marie-Antoinette Eléonore de Créquy-Canaples, and Abbé Dubos, parish priest for 48 years until his death in 1699. These elements demonstrate the historical and social importance of the church in the region.

The hexagonal bell tower, covered with slates, overlooks the roof of the nave, adding an architectural singularity to this monument. The church thus illustrates the evolution of religious styles and practices between the 16th and 18th centuries, while preserving tangible traces of its past, such as the tombs of noble families and members of the local clergy.
