Origin and history

Hendecourt Castle is a building located in the commune of Hendecourt-lès-Cagnicourt, in the Hauts-de-France region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

In the Hauts-de-France region, castles have often played a central role in the social and economic organization of rural areas. They served as seigneurial residences, administrative centres or defence sites. Hendecourt-lès-Cagnicourt, like other surrounding villages, was probably marked by this aristocratic presence, although the local archives do not allow to accurately trace the history of this specific castle.
