Origin and history
Le logis de la Joubardière is a former mansion located in the commune of Saint-Martin-du-Limet, Mayenne (Land of the Loire). This monument illustrates a remarkable architectural evolution, combining a 12th century logis-tour, a 14th century Old House, and a Second Renaissance Grand House. Its history reflects the successive transformations of a seigneurial home through medieval and modern times.
The original house tower, dating back to the late twelfth century, is the oldest nucleus of the building. In the 14th century, the mansion expanded with the addition of Old Homes, reflecting the growing importance of the site. The Renaissance then brings a larger living wing, the Grand Logis, characterized by preserved huississeries and locks. These successive extensions make it a rare example of architectural continuity over centuries.
Filed under the title of historical monuments by order of 3 March 1997, the house of the Jobbardière is recognized for its built heritage and furniture. The interior preserves all its original carpentry and ironwork, typical elements of Renaissance aristocratic houses. Its plan in return, combining medieval and renaissant parts, makes it a privileged study site for the history of noble habitat in Anjou-Mayenne.
