Origin and history
Hotel Thiebaut de Montureux is a private hotel built in the middle of the 16th century in Luxeuil-les-Bains, Haute-Saône. Located at the corner of the Place de la République, it is distinguished by its L-shaped plan, its backyard and a stone façade decorated with Renaissance elements. His remarkable architectural details include a door framed with fluted ion columns and a scauguette carved with acanthes and doves leaves, supported by a cul-de-lampe. Although the interior was thoroughly redesigned in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, these modifications did not alter the historic exterior appearance of the building.
In the 18th century, the building housed the first pharmacy in Luxeuil, marking its anchor in local life. In the 21st century, it hosts a florist trade, perpetuating its vocation as a useful space for the community. Ranked Historic Monument in 2011, the hotel is now owned by the municipality. Only its facades and roofs are protected by the registration decree of 27 January 2011, demonstrating the desire to preserve its architectural heritage while allowing for contemporary use.
The location of the hotel, at 28 rue Victor-Genoux and 1 Place de la République, makes it a central point in the urban fabric of Luxeuil-les-Bains. Its registration in the Merimée base and its Creative Commons license for visual representations underline its heritage importance. Although the sources mention a "satisfactory" location accuracy (note 7/10), no further details of any past uses (such as guest rooms or reception rooms) are confirmed by the available texts.
