Residence at the mansion in the early 15th century.
Origin and history
Kersalio Manor House is a former noble house located south of the village of Clis, in the commune of Guérande, in the Loire-Atlantique department. Although the exact period of its construction is not attested, the granite house body, built at the bottom of the Guérande hillside according to an L-shaped plan, dates from the first half of the 15th century. The seigneury, for its part, was mentioned in the middle of the 13th century, highlighting its historical importance in the region.
The first known lords of Kersalio belong to the Le Guennec family. Jehan Le Guennec, a chamberlain and squire of the Duke of Brittany in 1420, resides at the mansion in the early 15th century. In the 17th century, the estate passed successively to the Leroy and Foucquer families, who kept it until the French Revolution. In the 19th century, the manor house was transformed into a farm, marking a decline in its aristocratic status.
In 1650, the Trevaly mill, dependent on the mansion, was mentioned in the archives. In 1926, the arcade portal of the mansion was dismantled and integrated into the western facade of the Trevaly Castle in La Turballe. Ravaged by a fire in 1976, the manor house, reduced to a state of ruins, became in 1988 the property of the departmental council of the Loire-Atlantique, which has ensured its preservation.
