Porche du Puy-Soubre and the facades joining it to the West (Box G1 160): inscription by order of 28 August 1967
Origin and history
The porch of Puy-Soubre is located in the suburbs of Donzenac, Corrèze. This district developed on the south slope of a spur overlooking the former fortified area, organized around the local castle. The porch, built in the 13th and 15th centuries, is distinguished by its broken arch in stone, typical of medieval architecture. It spans the street and supports a floor furnished with two windows.
Ranked as a Historic Monument, the porch gives access to the suburb of Puy Soubro, reflecting medieval urbanism where fortified entrances played a defensive and symbolic role. The listing of the Historical Monuments, by order of 28 August 1967, concerns the porch itself and the facades adjacent to the west. Its exact address, 3 Rue du Puy Broch, confirms its anchoring in the historic urban fabric of Donzenac.
The structure thus combines practical functions (passage and housing) and heritage value, illustrating the architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The location, noted as "passible" (5/10) in the databases, suggests a geographical identification to be refined, although the administrative address and the Insee code (19072) clearly link the monument to the municipality of Donzenac, in the former Limousin region.
