Château de Sarcus (rests) (Box BM 219): inscription by order of 16 May 1929

Origin and history

The castle of Sarcus, now reduced to remains, is located in the commune of Nogent-sur-Oise, in the department of the Oise ( Hauts-de-France region). This monument, whose location is considered satisfactory by the available sources, has been registered as a Historical Monument since 16 May 1929. The protected elements correspond to the remains of the castle, referenced under the cadastral plot BM 219.

The property now belongs to the municipality of Nogent-sur-Oise. The absence of precise historical details in the available sources does not allow to trace the evolution of the castle or its exact role in the region. However, this type of monument, typical of the local heritage, often reflects the strategic or residential importance of castles in the territorial and social organization of past centuries.

In the Hauts-de-France, as elsewhere, these buildings could serve as seigneurial residences, defence sites, or symbols of power for noble families or local institutions.
