Origin and history

Dammaria-en-Puisaye Castle, located in the town of Loiret, is a building dating back to the 12th century. Its medieval structures, partially preserved, bear witness to its initial defensive role, typical of the strong castles of this period. Protected elements include facades, towers, a dungeon and ditches, reflecting its original military architecture.

During the second half of the 19th century, the castle underwent significant changes, incorporating architectural changes specific to that period. This work was able to adapt the building to new functions, while preserving medieval remains such as the entrance poternode or courtines. Ranked a Historical Monument by order of 1 October 1987, it now illustrates the superposition of the epochs through its protected elements.

The location of the castle, attested by GPS coordinates and cadastral references (section B, plots 428, 430, 432), confirms its anchoring in the landscape of Dammaria-en-Puisaye. Although the sources do not specify its current use (visit, rental, accommodation), its registration as Historic Monuments underscores its heritage importance for the Centre-Val de Loire region.
