Origin and history
Marguerite Castle is a 19th-century stone building located in Neussargues-Moissac, Cantal department. This monument is a symbol of the city, regularly appearing on postcards published during the 20th century. Its architecture and location make it a significant visual landmark for residents and visitors.
The current state of the castle is mainly linked to Maurice Guibal, former mayor of Murat and second owner of the estate. He supervised the completion of his construction and gave him the name of his daughter, Marguerite, in tribute. Today, the castle belongs to the Lorient family, perpetuating its local history.
Although the details of its initial construction remain unclear, the Marguerite Castle embodies the architectural heritage of the Cantal. His association with local figures, such as Maurice Guibal, and his recurring representation in the iconography of Neussargues-Moissac underline his cultural and historical importance for the region.
