Origin and history

Beauclair Castle, located in Morville-en-Beauce (Loiret), rises on the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa. In 1558, Claude Bourdin, controller of the stables of King Henry II, acquired the land of Bezonville, which then passed to the families Le Coigneux, Chambly, and La Tour du Pin by marriage alliances. The current constructions date mainly from the eighteenth century, initiated by René-Charles-François de La Tour du Pin Chambly de La Charce, guillotine in 1794.

During the Revolution, the castle was partially burned and rebuilt under the Restoration by Henry de La Tour du Pin Chambly, which added Italian-style commons and stables. The property remained in the family until 1903, before passing to the hands of the Clermont-Tonnerre, then to the Tour du Pin-Gouvernet. In 2018, the Count of Rougé of Aligre bought the estate, then degraded, and launched a major restoration.

A fire ravages the roof in April 2019, destroying 300 m2. Reconstruction works (carpents, blankets, facades) were completed at the end of 2022, accompanied by the creation of French and English gardens. The castle, saved from the ruin, will be transferred in 2025 to an event company.

In the 1960s and 1970s, the castle welcomed Johnny Hallyday, who recorded iconic titles like I love in a studio in the dovecote. This discreet place allows him to work away from media solicitations.
