Origin and history
The castle of Thebe, located in Martres-Tolosane in Haute-Garonne, was built at the end of the 17th century, then renovated in the 18th century. It is distinguished by its architecture composed of a rectangular house body flanked by four square towers. The building is surrounded by still water moats, delimiting a pleasant garden that replaced an old orchard. Inside, fireplaces of the 18th and 19th centuries, decorated with stuccos, testify to the stylistic evolutions of these epochs.
The castle belonged to the same family since 1809, making it a rare example of heritage continuity over more than two centuries. It was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 19 December 1994, a protection extended to its moat and its former orchard. The location of the site, noted as "very satisfactory" (8/10), allows a precise identification in the landscape of Martres-Tolosane, near Toulouse.
The protected elements include the castle itself, its moats and its former orchard, reflecting the importance attached to the preservation of the entire estate. Although the information on its openness to the public or its current uses (visits, rentals, guest rooms) is not specified in the available sources, its state of conservation and registration make it a significant architectural heritage of the Occitanie region.
