Archaeological vestiges: inscriptions (see E 30p, 41, 43): inscription by decree of 15 September 1955
Origin and history
The archaeological remains of Tarascon, specifically inscriptions, constitute a classified historical monument. These elements, located in the Saint-Gabriel district, were protected by ministerial decree on 15 September 1955. Their exact location is indicated by the cadastre (parks E 30p, 41, 43), but their geographical accuracy remains poor (level 5/10 depending on the sources).
These remains belong partly to private owners and partly to the municipality of Tarascon. Their current status and accessibility to the public are not specified in available sources. The Mérimée base refers them under the code Insee 13108, in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône, attached to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
The absence of details of their exact origin or function limits the understanding of their historical role. However, their legal protection underscores their heritage importance. The inscriptions could come from an ancient or medieval period, typical of archaeological discoveries in Provence, region marked by successive occupations (Roman, medieval, etc.).
