Origin and history

Vignolles Castle, located in Beaumont-sur-Lèze in Haute-Garonne, is an emblematic monument of the 16th and 17th centuries, reflecting the architecture characteristic of the Toulouse region. Organised around a central courtyard, it contrasts a main house, higher and adorned with carved sill windows, with the buildings of the communes. The entrance gate, decorated with a terracotta Eole and two headballs, as well as the 17th century interior staircase, testify to its artistic refinement. This castle also preserves the works of the Toulouse painter Roques, adding a cultural dimension to its architectural heritage.

The arrangement of the places, with the chapel and wings in return of the commons, illustrates the spatial organization of the noble houses of the time. Ranked a Historic Monument since 1994 for its facades, roofs, park, staircase and stucco lounge, Vignolles Castle embodies both the prestige of seigneurial residences and the local artistic heritage. Its state of conservation, including terracotta elements and old carpentry, makes it a valuable witness to regional history.

The location of the castle, in a framework now noted as satisfactory a priori (level 7/10), and its potential opening to activities such as visits or accommodation, underline its contemporary anchor. Legal protections and the presence of unique decorative elements, such as the carved heads of the portal, reinforce its heritage importance in the Occitan landscape.
