Origin and history

Château de la Faisanderie is a historic monument located in Chatou, in the Île-de-France region. Built during the 4th quarter of the 18th century, it embodies the architectural and social characteristics of this pivotal period between the Ancient Regime and the French Revolution. The buildings of that time were often linked to residential or recreational functions for local or Parisian elites.

At the end of the 18th century, the Île-de-France region, close to Paris, was marked by a strong aristocratic and bourgeois presence. Residences such as the Château de la Faisanderie often served as resorts or social venues. These properties reflected the taste for landscaped gardens, elegant festivals and a refined lifestyle, while being integrated into a dynamic economic and cultural network centered on the capital.
