Facades and roofs: inscription by order of 3 February 1928

Origin and history

The Château de Parpeville is an emblematic building located in the commune of Parpeville, in the department of Aisne, in the Hauts-de-France region. Built in the 18th century, it is a typical example of the aristocratic residential architecture of this period, marked by elegant lines and characteristic symmetry.

The castle has been listed as historic monuments since 1928, an official recognition of its heritage value. This protection specifically concerns its facades and roofs, architectural elements considered remarkable. The monument is located precisely at 13 Rue Fernand Jumeaux, in the village of Parpeville.

In the 18th century, castles of this type often served as residences for noble or bourgeois families, while playing a central role in the local economy. They were frequently surrounded by agricultural land and could serve as a management site for the surrounding areas. In the Hauts-de-France region, then called Picardie, these buildings also reflected the social and economic transformations of the period, between rural tradition and the influences of the Enlightenment.
