The entire distillery building. It appears in section ZA cadastre, on Parcel No. 170, as shown in blue on the plan annexed to the decree: inscription by order of 18 August 2022

Origin and history

The Bou distillery is located in the premises of a former distillation cooperative, founded in the early twentieth century. This industrial site, located in the commune of Bou (Loiret), operated continuously between 1920 and 1980, marking nearly six decades of local production. Its activity took place in a regional agricultural context where the processing of cereals and fruit into alcohol or spirits played a major economic role for the surrounding farms.

The building, kept in its entirety, was entered in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 18 August 2022. This protection recognizes its heritage importance, linked to the industrial and rural history of the Centre-Val de Loire. Today owned by the municipality, the distillery is located on rue de La Sourde and rue aux Vaches, on the cadastral plot ZA 170. Its state of conservation and its approximate localization (diagnostic precision estimated at 5/10) give a material testimony of the distillatory practices of the twentieth century.

Although the sources do not specify its current use, the distillery could potentially host visits or events, as suggested by the sections dedicated to practical information about Monumentum. Its architecture and history reflect the evolution of distillation techniques in France, as well as the gradual decline of small agricultural cooperatives in the face of industrial concentration at the turn of the 1980s.
